CHARLOTTE

Proposed Charlotte Transit Station to be built on the site of the original 1907 Southern Railway depot. It is planned to be built by the City of Charlotte, the State of North Carolina and AMTRAK.

Southern Railway depot, built in 1961. Now used by AMTRAK

Originally built in 1907 and used by Seaboard Air Line Railroad. This station has been restored and is used as a daytime shelter and counseling center. It is located on North Tryon Street an the east-west line through the city.

Richmond & Danville Railroad passenger depot. Built in 1886 for the R&D and later used by the Southern Railway until replaced by the depot above. The R&D depot replaced the Atlanta & Charlotte Air Line Railway depot which stood just across the tracks. The depot was located on the south side of Trade Sreet and on the east side of the bypass tracks around the downtown area.

Piedmont & Northern Railway passenger depot. Built in 1912 behind the old Charlotte Mint. It stood just north of the P&N freight depot and was demolished sometime before 1970.
