A North Carolina Railroad Station in

PITTSBORO

Historic photo of the former Seaboard Air Line depot

In May 2007, Paul Folmsbee travelled to Pittsboro to photograph the former Seaboard Air Line depot in the town. The rail line was the terminus of a spur which passed through Moncure and ended at Pittsboro. When he arrived he discovered that the depot had been demolished only three months earlier. The photos below show what was left of the depot, stacks of used timber waiting reuse on some other project.

According to Lynn McConnell this lumber may not have been from the depot but instead was from the demolition of the Pittsboro Ice and Fuel building according to a former member of the town council. At this point we are unable to verify which story is correct.
