A North Carolina Railroad Bridge in
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK (DURHAM)
In May 2006, the North Carolina Railroad completed construction of a new bridge carrying their tracks over North Carolina Highway 54 at the dividing line between Research Triangle Park and Durham. This beautiful new concrete bridge is double-tracked and replaced a narrow single-track bridge which had substandard clearance. Paul Folmsbee took these photos of the new bridge during and after its construction. The center of the old bridge was the dividing line between the cities of Research Triangle Park and Durham. The new bridge is 75 feet west and lies totally within Research Triangle Park.
