The Slation With the World's Longest Name

Photos by Lynn George

P&WRR Club member Lynn George and his wife Ruth were in Wales and took the photo below of the railroad station with the world's longest name, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. The station serves the Welch town of the same name.

See this photo of a shop in the town as proof that the name is for real.

As shown on the shop sign, the name means "The Church of Mary in the Hollow of the White Hazel near the Fierce Whirlpool and the Church of Tysilio by the Red Cave".

Try saying that ten times fast.
